In which Astrid recs Loki fic.

Loki Runway by [archiveofourown.org profile] Xparrot
Gen; Loki, Avengers, Heidi Klum, Tim Gunn, and OCs; crack/humor/crossover/fashion (is that a genre?); rated G; 6336 words
Summary: Loki hadn't been observed with a new scepter, and there had yet to be another alien invasion, but he was still a supervillain. SHIELD was on high alert for three months.
Which was when the new season of Project Runway started airing, and one of the designers strutting his stuff in the opening, boldly declaring, "I'll show you mortals how to make it work," set off every facial recognition program SHIELD had.

All right, so the idea of Loki as a sympathetic character is not appealing to me which is why I don't read much Loki fic. But the summary for this fic sounded so cracky that it was irresistable and it was really impossible for me to withstand the charm of this story. So, reccing this one not just for Loki fans. It is just hilariously cracky all around (and really brilliant in the way it works, to a degree*, within the logic of both verses **). And Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn are kind of awesome in their roles, as are the OCs.

* Well, it's not the most in character I've ever seen the Avengers. But hey, it's crack.
**As a side effect I plan to watch Project Runway now. (I have a secret weakness for certain kinds of reality shows.)

Huh. The other day I was in the fandom_secrets comment thread on faceblindness and sharing my experiences from the exciting world of prosopagnosia. I was thinking back to the time I didn't realize two girls I was talking to were not only related to each other, but in fact identical twins. I wonder now if my partial faceblindness may not be the reason why "Clint Barton is William Brandt" and similar tropes don't work for me. Because I rely only partly on faces to recognize people, and more on things like hairdo, voice and body language. And Renner changes his body language from character to character so maybe that's what throws me off.
