Shield fic rec:
Every Single Tree by [archiveofourown.org profile] greenet
Gen; Ward & team; humor; rated G; 1030 words
Summary: It takes Ward two months, more near misses and fuck ups than he's had in his entire career so far, and a visit from Hawkeye before he goes "fuck it" and embraces the fact that he's an asshole robot.
Weirdly, that makes people like him more.

I can't seem to get tumblr saviour to work. I installed it and added all the relevant tags to my blacklist but my dash is still full of shows I don't watch. Help?

eta: fixed!

First things first: There's finally a reliable method to filter out pairings on AO3! The method doesn't rely on text string search, so you don't end up filtering out stories accidentally. Instead it filters by tag id.
This post explains how it's done. I also installed the "ao3 saved filters" userscript suggested in the post, and now I have a conveniently searchable archive. For example, thanks to that script "Clint Barton/Phil Coulson" is filtered out globally in my searches - which means it also doesn't appear on the pages for Mission Impossible. However, stories that list "Clint Barton, Phil Coulson" still show up.
(Thanks to [personal profile] ratcreature for the heads-up)

Continuum fic that feels a lot like the show:
The Other Way by [archiveofourown.org profile] jinxed_wood
Kiera Cameron/Matthew Kellog, Alec, Carlos, Sonya; post-S1; rated teen; 8371 words
Summary: The day started with a bomb threat...

filed under 'needful things': I finally found a saviour program for AO3 that works on my computer: blurb blocker for greasemonkey. Now well over half of the listed fics is blocked, but I can finally browse Avengers fandom unfiltered. \o/

And it has a definite advantage to AO3's 'search within results' box: if you saviour, for example, "Clint Barton/Phil Coulson", it will block all of those fics but leave the ones that just happen to list the characters "Clint Barton, Phil Coulson". (Since those two sit next to each other on the character list quite often, that meant lot of stories getting accidentally filtered out.)

Rec of the day is early today, because I learned that speed can be of the essence to get a Youtube vid before it gets blocked in Germany. :P

Lost in the Darkness by TatyanaOracle
Natasha/Clint; action/angst; 3:09 min
Clint goes MIA during a mission, but Natasha refuses to stop searching for him.

I love vids that tell a whole story. (I stubbornly decided to read this one as open-ended because it's emotional enough as it is... So. He's gonna be fine!)

speaking of getting youtube vids, I just installed Easy YouTube Video Downloader, a useful Firefox add-on. It adds a download button below the vid and you can choose the quality you like. It works great, much better than any downloader I tried before.

Me and the roommates are in need of movie recs for Buffynight. Well, we still call it Buffynight but we ran out of first Angel and then Buffy episodes well over a year ago. Now it's basically Movie Night, on which two of us cook a nice dinner while the other two get a movie. The food is the easy part.

We saw some fantastic movies already (I should really have made notes for a recs list... some of those, like The Prestige, I had no expectations for and was really pleasantly surprised.) I could use some recs, so: What are your, say, three favorite movies? The ones you'd bring on the desert island (if the desert island had electricity)?

And while I'm here, I'm snagging the Ask Me Anything meme I just saw at [livejournal.com profile] kradical:
ask me anything you want in the comments. I shall answer as best as I can though I'll reserve the right to skip questions.
