I posted a belated contribution for
sga_flashfic. I LOVE amnesty \o/. I may even be able to squeeze in another challenge reply before the deadline, provided I'm lucky and get an idea for the middle part.
fic recs:
Between the Lines by
friendshipper
gen; PG; 6500 words; Characters: John and Rodney; Spoilers: through "Doppelganger"
Summary: Sometimes, you'd never dream of being friends with someone, especially the most annoying person in Antarctica ... until you get stuck with them in another galaxy.
This is a wonderful story that I find incredibly hard to describe. It's about John and Rodney's friendship, and it's just so *right*. I'm reduced to 'go, read'...
Close Only Counts in Horseshoes and Hand Grenades by
smittywing
Rating: NC-17; McKay/Sheppard; Spoilers: Season One; Length: ~16,000 words
Summary: It should have been a brilliant arrangement. Sex that didn't count was vastly superior to no sex at all and had the added benefit of no attachments and no expectations.
It was really kind of pissing John off.
fanart rec:
A stunning illustration of John and Rodney in an oriental setting: Desert Bride by
leyna55. (If you, like me, can't see the pic in the LJ post, here's a direct link)
youtube vid: David Hewlett shares his favorite lines from recent eps, talking very fast while doing so.
I've been following the OTW/fanfic discussion on Scalzi's blog. Quite interesting. Also, unlike previous pro/antific debates, the tone has been reasonably respectful... well, relatively speaking. Just one rape comparison, a few people who called theft or told ficcers to hide in the dank corners where they belong... if this was Goldberg's blog, at this point of the debate there would have been several mentions of pedophilia, minimum.
Not saying that certain commenters at Scalzi's don't make me want to bang my head against the desk. like. THIS. OW.
Anyway. Today was my off day, and the weather was perfect so I went rollerblading for two hours, and then bicycling, and in the sauna (three times), and bicycling back, then on a walk. It was great. I feel human again. My back is starting to recover from last week, during which I sketched a whole book. (Feels so damn good to finally get some work done, too.) And now I must go and read that fic in which the characters are socks. (Because this is Atlantis and of course there's sockfic. I'm not even surprised anymore *g*)
