***Here's an nifty little LJ tool I ran across at fandom_wank: LJ thread unfolder, works with Firefox (you need to install Greasemonkey first, then Unfolder). It was easy to install, and it's already come very handy for unfolding collapsed threads.

***Interesting article on the economic effects of file sharing: Piracy is Good? How Battlestar Galactica killed broadcast tv. It presents a different viewpoint from the usual clamors of "Piracy kills the entertainment industry!". I find the argument plausible and the business model suggested here is quite interesting.

Speaking for myself, almost all CDs that I bought in the last couple of years - the only exception being sountracks - I bought because a fanvid had introduced me to the band. When the 'Bones' pilot was leaked onto the internet half a year before the show started, I was actually wondering at the time if Fox themselves might not have had something to do with it... word-of-mouth is a most valuable tool to raise the profile of the show.
