Rec of the day

A WIP update today, because I've come to crave updates for this story and feel the need to share; it's shaping up to be everything I wanted out of a post-season one fic.

Gen; May, Ward, Coulson, Skye; warning: torture; spoilers 1x22; WIP; ~25000 words (6/?)
Summary: He wasn´t looking at her but rather through her, the faraway stare of somebody readying himself for pain and trying to gain some distance from the situation. He had been trained by SHIELD and Hydra both, and May already knew she would not get one word from him today. She was OK with that. One way or another, they would have their answers in the end.

This fic goes dark places, but I trust the author when she says that both May and Ward will ultimately get the chance to heal. The first three chapters are not easy to read because the author doesn’t pull her punches, but I really believe that the payoff will be worth the amount of pain in the first few chapters, and readers like me who’re fans of both May and Ward will be satisfied. I get the feeling the author really understands the characters.
