And from one day to the next, it's suddenly fall. Goodbye summer, you were the BEST!
The shops have been carrying Christmas sweets for over a week. Grim harbingers of the winter to come.
But I managed to catch a one-hour window of sun during my run today. :)

Btw, I've been running in my Vibram five-finger barefoot shoes which I've seen [personal profile] naye post about once, and after two years of trying them on and off, I can definitely recommend them for running.

You need to acquaint your feet with them carefully though, because the strain on the muscles and tendons is very different from running in tradional footwear, but once you get going they make for a fun running experience. I somehow feel like I can run faster and more effortless, especially on forest floor and other softer ground. And there's an added tactile dimension since the lack of padding allows the foot to autocorrect, so to speak, any bumps on the ground in a way that traditional running shoes don't. In the past I've owned shoes in which I constantly had to worry about tripping on tree roots in the dusk, which hasn't happened yet with these guys.

So, I'm really happy with them. Drawbacks: They might not work for every foot since they really have no padding at all, and I wouldn't recommend them on tracks that are mainly asphalt, concrete, or pavement (though I've read some runners swear by them even in those cases). They're also not so suitable for the cold and wet winter season, unless you don't mind cold and wet feet.

Do I ever mind getting my feet cold and wet.
