Avengers Pirate!fic :D

Rascals, Scoundrels, Villains, and Knaves by [archiveofourown.org profile] frea_o (complete on LJ; fic on AO3)
Pirate AU; Pairings: Miss Natasha Romanova/Seaman Clint Barton (and Lady Pepper Potts/Sir Anthony Stark, Captain Steven Rogers/Miss Peggy Carter, Duke Thor of Asgard/Miss Jane Foster); PG-13; word count: 46,700
Summary/Prompt Used: Tortuga, 1745. It’s been three years since they last sailed together, but when an old enemy resurfaces and takes one of their own, it’s up to the crew of the Avenging Angel to assemble and take to the high seas once more. Or: the one where everybody is a pirate except the two canonical characters with eyepatches. Drink up me ’earties, yo-ho.

A cool original setting and elements of the movie are creatively woven together into a colorful and action-packed pirate story. Really fun read.

(The graphics that come with each chapter look pretty great, too.)

Oh boy, there's so much new fic getting posted right now, it's crazy. So much choice! It's like a fanfic avalanche. I haven't even read most of the Yulefic on my list, not to mention the Clintasha secret santa.
I got a system now. I made folders for later. Waste not, want not.

(I just read a Hansel and Gretel fic. Childhood!me never would've expected that. ;)

Also, I bought Harry Potter part 1 in Japanese, in yet another attempt to become more fluent in that language. The downside (or upside, I'm undecided) is that reading one page of that in bed will put me to sleep pretty reliably. It further cuts into my fic reading time. But I figure even as little as one page a day should show a long-term effect.

I'm honestly pondering (half-heartedly, but still) to switch to Russian for a foreign language. The thing is that Japanese is a hobby and I find it fascinating, but I have no real use for it and thus not enough motivation. I haven't been into another anime/manga since FMA, that's the problem.

Whereas I constantly come across posts in Russian that interest me; even fic, more recently. I have a foundation of a bit of Russian and quite a lot more of Polish which is closely related. Very thoroughly buried in my head but could probably be unearthed with a bit of effort. And after learning an Asian Language, a Slavic one would be a lot less challenging, I feel, because the grammatical frame is essentially the same.

I don't know yet. I'll keep that thought on the backburner. I know that I can't do both for sure.
