So, the part where I said I don't feel fannish about The Avengers?
I take that back.
Here's an interesting blog article metaing about The costumes and characters of The Avengers. So far they've covered SHIELD, Tony, Pepper & Bruce, Captain America, and Loki. With the rest coming up. /snagged from [personal profile] madripoor_rose

eta: arrgh, the search engine on AO3 is driving me nuts! I thought it was useless for a tiny fandom like Leverage or Chuck - I had no idea what 'useless' truly means until I tried looking for stuff in a megafandom.

If, in my case, I want to look for Natasha&Clint OR Natasha/Clint -Loki/anyone -Steve/Tony -Clint/anyonebutNatasha -Natasha/anyonebutClint and all that sorted by word count... unless I'm really missing something it can't be done. I've tried all possible acrobatic contortions with the search engine and buttons, nada. I hate to say it but ffn is the far superior site in that regard. Their seach engine is minimalistic and dusty but at least it works. Fortunately there's some good fic to be found on ffn, too.

a girl is a gun by [livejournal.com profile] miawkitten (Avengers movieverse)
Gen; Natasha Romanoff & Clint Barton; 5037 words
summary: she was a spy and then she met him.
a/n: set in movie-verse. an origin story, if you will, following the few times these two met (and tried to kill each other) before joining the same team. also, budapest.

Loved this one; it feels intense, especially Natasha's point of view. An exploration of their backstory that does a great job showing their personalities as well as the development of their... well, not relationship... of that thing between them. From one near-murder to the next.

I'm reminded just a little of those Leverage fics I love, in which Nate chases Sophie across Europe. Only in this case with less art theft and considerably more violence and bloodshed. These two are cold-blooded assassins and the story treats them as such.
