Heard this the other day: An electrical engineer, a mechanical engineer, and a computer scientist are driving in a car when suddenly their car breaks down. The electrical engineer says "I bet it's the alternator, I'd better get out and take a look." The mechanical engineer says "No, no, it's probably the transmission." The computer scientist says "How about we all get out and get back in, maybe it'll start working again?"

(Say what you want, that basic troubleshooting approach worked well on my graphic tablet the other day. It was broken, and then the next day it wasn't. Which is good because I wouldn't have had the first idea how to fix it. Also, drawing with the mouse sucks.)

Actual tears. In my eyes. Happy procrastinating. :)

Today I finished a cover art sketch *and* we painted the kitchen. I'm feeling accomplished, if tired. Roomie insisted the paint job was necessary. Me, okay, I'm a teensy bit of a slob and thought it looked perfectly fine as it was... slightly off-white, whereas now it is kind of glaringly bright by comparison. Well, considering the sun sets before 5 pm already and it's only gonna get worse, I guess every little bit of light helps.

Yesterday I checked out our bouldering cave for the first time because I couldn't find a partner for top-roping. Today most of the muscles in my arms and back are kind of sore. Adds to the overall accomplished feeling. I'm only waiting for it to wear off so I can go bouldering again. So much fun. Excellent alternative to top-roping. *thumbs up*

Um, wow.

... and in contrast, urban climbing in a more relaxed setting: Climbing Club
These are folks who meet once a month in London to go buildering. I debated whether to link this one because I don't agree with some of the stuff said: for one I think that climbing while hung over doesn't sound like a good idea; also, you can't climb in just any kind of clothing, you need clothes that won't limit your range of motion.
Well, I'm linking it anyway because I think it illustrates that street climbing really can be for everybody; the key is to do it at a level that feels comfortable and safe. These folks aren't doing any particularly athletic or high-risk climbing, they're just having fun with architecture.
