I considered volunteering for the AU category at stargateficrec. But I didn't sign up quickly enough for this month, and I see that someone else already has AU covered. But also, how can I find out if a particular story has already been rec'd there?( Read more... ) Well, speaking of fic recs (smooth, ey?):

rhymer23 has written a sequel to her historical AU The Pirate's Prisoner:
The Price of a Pardon
gen; team; 49,000 words, plus drawings, maps and photos
summary: Rodney McKay wasn't sure what he expected to happen when he decided to throw his lot in with the enigmatic Captain Sheppard and his alarming crew, but it definitely wasn't near-constant brushes with almost certain doom. The angry mobs are a worry, too, as is the espionage, the last-minute rescues, the alarming quantities of crime, the dastardly rogues bent on killing them, the scheming enemies, the swooning maidens and the secret tunnels. Will Rodney and his new companions survive to get their happy ending?
This is a wonderful story, a great blend of humor, drama, and suspense, rounded off with accurately researched historical detail that draws you into this 'verse. It makes for a very satisfying sequel as well... it adds new dimension to all of the characters, the plot is original, and seamlessly ties this story to the first one. Fantastic voices - those guys sound just like themselves, if they lived in the 18th century - and the choice of POV works extremely well, too. This fic is a real treat (I'm still smiling as I type this).
Make sure you read 'The Pirate's Prisoner' first, if you haven't already, as the sequel heavily builds on the first part.

I just googled [my username] + [the Wiki That Must Not Be Named], and found that her LJ-bot has finally got me. Apparently I'm a member of NCIS fandom, also SG-1 and DS9.( Whatever )
