Oh, looks like LJ is back up after it was down all morning. I'm gonna go through my profile and see if there aren't a couple more journals I can follow on DW instead.

An appeal to fic writers: please, crosspost your fic! At least to one other site. AO3, ffn, DW, anywhere not LJ... just so there's a backup.

I hate to say it because I've been on LJ for ages and had some good times here but I really feel that LJ is going down the drain. Definitely headed in a drain-adjacent direction, between the constant DDOS attacks and [livejournal.com profile] igrick sabotaging the site from within. (And you know, the more I think about it, the less sure I am that's just a crazy conspiracy theory, considering that the features that were broken on purpose were those that benefitted community building and discussion. And that apparently the Russian-language users aren't any happier with the changes than we are.)

Thank you for the link to Mananon's site! Looking at these numbers (the graph of LJ activity since 2000) is quite telling. I wasn't sure if there had been an actual, noticeable impact -- obviously fandom has decamped to DW in a major way, but it's always hard to tell if you're just judging things based on your own little corner. But, uh, yeah, their numbers are plummeting.
