I told myself I wouldn't post before I have at least this one more double-spread page sketched, but I can start to feel my brain leak out of my ears. (It's one of *those* scenes... dozens of people, all supposed to be doing something interesting, in period costume and with historical buildings in the background the appearance of every single one I have to research first. >_<)

Since I heard parts of my friendslist entertain the thought of getting into SGA (dooo iiit!) because of Jewel Staite, here's a neat newbie's guide by thefourthvine: Wraith, ZPMs, Sheppard's hair and everything else you wanted to know about Stargate: Atlantis

Teyla notices the rift between Sheppard and McKay and comes up with a plan to set things right - which is when things start to go really wrong.

Best post-Trinity fic I've read! There's not a hint of Woobie!Rodney, thankfully... all the characterizations are fantastic, the clash between Rodney and John entirely believable, and particularly Teyla's alien-ness and her unique view of things come across really well. Plus, great plot.

Summary: A few things Sam doesn't want anyone to know about her and Rodney Mckay, and a few other things that Rodney would be only too happy to share about his (non-existent) relationship with Samantha Carter, if anyone actually cared enough to listen.

snippet: She's thought about what it would be like. Once or twice. Or maybe more, back when she first met him and hated the very sight of him.

Back then, she thought about pinning him down and doing... things. Like forcing an entire lemon down his throat. Or listening to him insult her intelligence and then forcing an entire lemon down his throat. Possibly while one or both of them were naked.

She doesn't know whether this makes her a masochist or a sadist. Probably a bit of both.

Now, she just thinks about the many different ways she could get him to admit, over and over again, how much smarter than him she is. She thinks about how pleasant the process could be.

But she's only thought about it once or twice. Briefly. She's not obsessed or anything.

***movie rec: We saw Ratatouille, the Pixar movie about a little rat who has an affinity for haute cuisine. I mostly went because my friends did (one of them has pet rats so that movie was must-see) and I ended up really loving it. Not just the animation and the special effects, though those were top-notch, but the story was great - funny and original. And so damn cute!
***and on the topic of haute cuisine, am I the only one who gets hungry when reading Joe Mallozzi's blog?

Thanks for the newbie's guide. I've watched once and...well...I'm not really finished with the fandoms I already have. But, I did watch two full years of SG:1 after my man Ben Browder came aboard.

Which SGA ep was it that you watched, out of curiosity? The first one I saw (following a rec) was 1x03 and I can pinpoint the exact moment I fell for this show. But I was already halfway convinced before even seeing that first ep, just because of the few fanworks I'd stumbled across. I *had* to find out more about these characters.

I'm watching SG1 now, mostly because it's part of the same 'verse and I like some entertainment while at work. I don't think it'll ever capture my interest the way SGA has, but I'm working through that 8 boxset that I just bought (not at all because McKay is in it for all of two minutes...) and there were already a few eps that I not just liked, but loved. I notice that I tend to like later eps a lot more than early ones, generally.
