(fan comic) The X-Files: Chrome-Magnon [pg 22-30, COMPLETE]

Here we go, the conclusion. I swore I wouldn't touch this comic but I realized I had to change one tiny thing. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] makd for taking a look at the fixed part. And now, without further ado...

Disclaimer: This fan comic is in no way meant to infringe upon the copyrights held by Fox, TenThirteen or any other copyright holders of the show "X-files". It is presented in this medium purely for your enjoyment.

Previous parts: pg 1-10, pg 11-21

Is anyone here in X-Files fandom and can point me to a good active LJ community to pimp this? I'm completely out of the loop - back when I was watching the show, LJ didn't even exist. Heck, most of the web didn't exist.

Love how you tie this all up. once again, they're the only ones who know the truth. And the open ending is great.

Ah, I wish I could take credit for the plot itself...

But I sifted through fic for a long time, six weeks, before I found this story. When I read it I knew immediately that it'd be perfect for the comic I had in mind - gen that fits snugly into canon. :)

Once I had the author on board, adapting the prose text into comic format was a piece of cake.

My pleasure. I'm really glad I took the time to scan the pages properly. Works so much better now. I hope the resolution is high enough for printing... but those pages you'd mailed me looked good, so it should work fine.

The layout and artwork are just gorgeous. I especially loved the page with the DNA strand in hte background.

(Oh, plotwise, also excellent...)

Thanks for posting~

Thank you kindly. I had a *lot* of fun with the layout. That's really the best part of drawing comics... where can go wild (though hopefully not overboard). The DNA page made me happy for several reasons: firstly I thought it was a pretty cool idea, and secondly, well, it took no time to draw and color the thing. An efficient and time-saving effect. :)

Ah, looking at these pages brings back a lot of fond memories.

This is so way cool. I do love the expressions you have on their faces and the atmosphere - look, sunny camping! - oops, not so sunny. *laugh*

Sticking all this in my favorites.

Sticking all this in my favorites.

:O)

I remember one summer, camping in Poland, where it rained non-stop for six weeks *shudder*... since then I've become a bit wary when it comes to camping.

[identity profile] evil-little-dog.livejournal.com 2006-12-24 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
Now that's frightening. *shudders*

When I was a camp counselor, we prayed for rain, mind you, because we could force the kids to stay in their cabins while we slept.

Oh, Astrid!! That's wonderful- great rendering and layout, beautiful, visual storytelling. I'm sure the author was pleased. At the time I wasn't watching much TV, but I saw a few eps, and know the storyline- I'll pimp this to the X-philes I know
:-)

Pimpage would be great and much appreciated, I don't really know any X-Files fans. It's not exactly a happenin' fandom these days. ;o)

I'm pleased you like it. Yup, I sent the author a full colour copy when it was done, and she was quite excited. And I achieved my diploma in design with this baby so everybody won.

Fabulous!

This was really, really good! I enjoyed all the artwork; a lot of the frames felt just as they would have shot them in the series. (I loved the little boy in the sandbox with the shadow he thought was his mum, though it wasn't, falling on him!)

And tell the author I liked the storyline, also very true to the show. Character dialogue etc. was excellent.

Just complete kudos to you for a job more than well done! =)

And happy new year! ;)

Luv, Kittie.

Hey. I'm thrilled you like the comic.

And tell the author I liked the storyline, also very true to the show. Character dialogue etc. was excellent.

It really is, isn't it. I was looking for weeks, reading dozens (or hundreds) of fics, until I found a suitable storyline for what I had in mind. Unfortunately I lost touch with the author a few years back, I think she faded out of fandom so I have no means to forward the feedback to her.

Happy new year to you too, and thanks muchly for commenting. :)

Oh my God, this is wonderful! It's lovely to look at--really professional quality. Just like an episode, only cooler.

Have you shared it with any X-Files communities yet? I'm sure that the people at [livejournal.com profile] xfiles would love it...

Thanks so much, I'm glad you like it! I haven't posted this to an X-Files comm, because I don't know any... I normally hang out in Angel and Bones fandom. So I'm all the more thrilled that people are coming over from [livejournal.com profile] fanthropology and [livejournal.com profile] metafandom. I'll check out [livejournal.com profile] xfiles.

That was so awesome!
It was a true MotW story (which is my favorite, I'm not all that crazy about mytharc..)
The ending was classic, they figured it out mostly but nobody else would ever know, and whatever it is is still out there. Again- awesome =)

Yeah, same here. It took a good while to find a suitable story for this comic, because I wanted something that would neatly fit into canon. So I was thrilled when I found Shannon's story. It was just what I was looking for, down to the frustrating ending.

Wow! This was sooo amazing! Your art and story are both great! I hope you do more of these!

I don't have any more X-Files comics in the works, but I do have some xf character sketches (that actually served as studies for this comic). Plus I got two comics set in the 'Angel' universe. All the artwork is listed in my LJ profile, or you should find it by clicking on the 'fan art' tag on the main page.

[identity profile] greenfish.livejournal.com 2007-05-07 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
Really nice! You did such a great job of adapting the story. You two should have been doing this professionally for Fox/Topps comics. I agree that the open layouts are really nice and I also loved the double-helix background when they're talking to the doctor. Do you have any other comics in the XF fandom?

[identity profile] astridv.livejournal.com 2007-05-07 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Not in XF, sorry... I do have two comics set in the 'Angel' 'verse though. And I got a whole bunch of sketches of characters from the X-Files. (They should be listed on my LJ userpage under 'fan art', or you can just click on the 'fan art' tag.)
