Damn.

I had a feeling this would be the last season. Sigh. But I guess better to announce it now than keep us all hanging until summer - at least now ME got enough time to think of a proper way to end it all (I think with a shudder of the Quantum Leap finale where they didn't). I just hope that they don't get smg to come back for the finale because they owe their viewers a B/A ending. Or rather, think they owe.

When I heard the news I suddenly realized... only nine more episodes to go? Nine! Sigh.

They mumbled something about possible tv movies next year? Probably too much to hope, but I like the sound of it.

Nine. Sigh.

ETA: There's an online-petition to keep AtS going here: http://www.petitiononline.com/angels6/

I doubt the WBs will let the fans influence their decision this time, but it's worth a shot.

ETA again: And the Save Angel Petition is currently at 9977 votes. No, now it's 9987. Um... wow?

Since they've filmed 18 tht means they have 4 shows to wrap it up...after
eight years? Or will they go with the eps as planned and leave it like
that? I wonder.

I don't know how far they've gotten on the writing of 19 and 20. It sounds like spoilers for 20 are already out, but there's probably time to make a few adjustments and then dedicate 21 and 22 to wrapping things up. The timing of this announcement is no coincidence. And I do think it's fair to make it now. (And it's what convinces me that no amount of fan protest will be able to change it... that decision is cast in stone.)

But I was just thinking about the possible finale while rollerblading through town (okay yes, I'm obsessed) and I suddenly got a sinking feeling that they're gonna take the shanshu prophecy literally - the vampire with the soul gets to live and to die. Redemption and all that, and how poignant that would be. I hope fervently that I'm wrong... with the show ending and Cordy gone that would be a heavy kick in the gut. :(

Something tells me there's more to this than we know yet. I think Joss is possibly okay with this ending now. Doesn't he have some other project lined up already?

I don't know. Are you thinking about a spinoff? The must want to keep the franchise alive. No idea what the chances for movies are, but I'm not getting my hopes up either. Maybe the petitions can help getting us a spinoff. Methadone for Angel. :/

Well, there was all that talk of a Spike spin-off a while back. And I think JM might be more inclined to hang on than DB, who has been saying lately that it's probably time to move on to other projects...and the praise for him in the press release may indicate he has a deal with WB already.

As for the finale, I hope your intuition is wrong...but I won't deny the same thought did occur to me too. I wonder if SMG will be persuaded to return for a B/A ending? I really don't know how I want it to end...well apart from Angel and Spike spending a happy slashy eternity together. LoL Now that Cordy is out of the picture. Hmmn. Wonder if they'd have done that if they'd known about the cancellation?
