If there was a price for brazenness...
A 'Samantha Jones' from Australia sent drawings of Spike and Angel to Buffy and Angel Magazine and won a star price. Only problem is that the drawings weren't done by Samantha, but by
thedothatgirl. All Samantha did was copy them and remove the signatures. Eh, I have no idea what drives plagiarists to do something as pointless and stupid as this. Who needs attention this badly?
But while at it... thedothatgirl's website is worth checking out. She's posted well-done fan-art of most, if not all the characters of the Whedonverse shows. It's fun to browse.

Yeah, it's just a dumb thing to do. Everybody and their brother reads that magazine. Maybe she's one of those people who crave attention of every kind, even negative.

How pathetic. It hadn't crossed my mind that someone might plagiarize fanart... not to send it to a magazine that's read by a large part of fandom, anyway.
I do make sure to post only lo-rez files online... not enough to make a really decent print, I thought that's enough to keep away plagiarists. *shrug*

Just, not much you can do. I mean, I'll post my stuff regardless. If I happen to see anyone snag my fanart and pass it for theirs, I'll out them to the fandom, with much enthusiasm. If someone stole some of my original art... well, happened to a friend of mine. Once she stumbled over it, she got them to take it down *really* quickly. *eg*
