Meme- fannish year in review
1. Your main fandom of the year?
MCU, including Agents of SHIELD
2. Your favourite film watched this year?
Gravity, the only movie I watched in the theatre this year. I rarely feel this immersed in a movie; it was thrilling. I'm really glad I listened to all the reviews that said you need to watch this on the big screen. I would've kicked myself when eventually watching it on DVD.
3. Your favourite book read this year?
As usual, I read 99% fanfic and only two or three books. I read Battle Royale, which I liked a lot, but my favorite was A Monster Calls. That book is like a kick in the gut, but in the best way.
4. Your favourite album or song to listen to this year?
Don't really have one. I digitized all my CDs and have the computer play them at random, interspersed with Japanese lessons. It's great when you're drawing and don't have to get up to change the CD.
5. Your favourite TV show of the year?
Agents of SHIELD fuckyeah
6. Your favourite online fandom community of the year?
You know... if I'm realistic, I have to say tumblr, most recently. It's flawed as a fandom platform and communicating there sucks donkey balls, but when I look for fresh content about my current show, I 1) actually find it and 2) it's actual squee and discussions and headcanons and shiny gifsets, rather than dour posts detailing how the show sucks and needs to get fixed according to each poster's tastes. So right now, I guess, if you need me... imma be on tumblr. (I'm astrid-v over there.)
It's nice to see LJ/DW pick up a bit, though, with the recent posting memes.
7. Your best new fandom discovery of the year?
same as 5.
8. Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?
I don't think I have one... I didn't have expectations that weren't fulfilled.
9. Your TV boyfriend of the year?
Clinton F. Barton. I also have a soft spot for Grant Ward - hard and spiky on the outside, with a squishy (and occasionally goofy) center. Easy on the eyes, too. :)
10. Your TV girlfriend of the year?
Natasha Romanoff. And Melinda May. Both have layered personalities, and kick ass with style which never gets old. I have a huge competence kink. (And a thing for hot ladies over fourty, re. May. Honorary mention to Sophie Devereaux, who kicks ass in an entirely different way.)
11. Your biggest squee moment of the year?
Hm. It was probably something fanfic-related. But I can't come up with a single moment.
12. The most missed of your old fandoms?
SGA... I miss the gazillions of fic produced every year, most of them the kind of plotty action-adventure teamfic I love most. I don't miss the constant character bashing though, so that always puts things into perspective when I want to whine that my new fandoms don't have that kind of output.
13. The fandom you haven’t tried yet, but want to?
Farscape, eventually. Not anytime soon, I'm a fandom serial monogamist.
14. Your biggest fan anticipations for the New Year?
That one's easy. Cap II, aka Black Widow the Movie. I'm trying to keep my expectations reasonable, but I'm really looking forward to that one.
Also looking forward to Black Widow #1. The preview pics look promising.
I normally also do the fanworks year in review, but a bunch of pieces are still veiled for fandom stocking. Maybe I'll do that one in a week.
