:/

You know what's annoying? When you post fanart to tumblr where it goes mostly or entirely ignored, only to see the same fanart posted by other people getting plenty of attention.

I don't know how to counter this development but let me state for the record that as an artist I find it frustrating and it pisses me off. It's getting to the point where to find the feedback for my fanart I would have to self-google my name on tumblr. I thought getting my own tumblr account would help in that at least some of the feedback would find its way to my inbox, but it makes actually no difference. I'm not gonna bother with crossposting any more, waste of time.

Wait, what? Are you saying that people are swiping your art and passing it off as their own, and getting good comments on it???

Ohhh, I get it. Yeah, that happens sometimes with fic too (though probably less often because it's harder to reblog fic on tumblr). It does sound frustrating!

I didn't mean reblogging per se when I brought up the fic example, I meant more that sometimes people will link to a story and then the comments about the story will happen on the other person's post rather than over at the link.

Another reason for me to hate Tumblr. I have definitely seen people posting art without attribution there, and it is difficult to tell who the artist is because of the format. :/

I love your art! It's beautiful, yes, and moving, but what I love best is that you're often telling a story with the images--no fic needed!

There, thought you could use a little extra fb to make up for the missing ones.

Tumblr interface is...different...and confusing. You're right, it's set up to share what you like without being able, really, to give thanks to the originator (without leaving tumblr). It rewards folks for sharing what they didn't create. I'm thinking it will be a fandom fad?

Yeah, I've had that happen. Though sometimes if they credit dA as source on their Tumblr at least the number of dA favs also rises noticeably. It's still not very efficient to get feedback.

Whenever I see that happening, I go to the person's deviantart, drop a comment or "favourite" it there, then figure out whether the artist has his or her own tumblr. If they do, then I reblog from the artist's tumblr instead.

Tumblr is good for some things, but fan artists get a raw deal.
