Meh. Waiting for feedback, meetings scheduled for monday and tuesday... which left me strangely unmotivated all weekend, even though the deadlines are looming and there're enough parts I can work on even so. Just, I find it hard to concentrate. Hopefully the meetings will be fruitful and I'll get to be more productive in the course of the week.

These Japanese smileys which pop up everywhere... ever wondered (as I have) what the hell they mean? Here's a fun thread. Yes, I can smile in Japanese now. ^_^

aaand, another bit of randomness... what's up with the UK Paramount Comedy Channel's incessant censoring? I can maybe understand if they censor the shows broadcast in the afternoon, but they're [bleep]ing with everything. And since when is [bleep] a nasty word? Or [bleep], or [bleep]? Seriously. Sometimes they're cutting whole lines of dialogue and leaving the viewer to wonder what the audience is laughing about.

For those who speak German: a friend gave me this link The story of a "hacker" who was apparently so stupid that he hacked his own computer.

Oh, and
selenak has posted meta on Angel the character. As intriguing as her Connor essay.

I have Bones withdrawal.

Also -- I miss Bones, too!

Same here, except there was never a moment when I didn't love the character... no matter how much he screwed up, or how dorky he got.
Well, except maybe the very first time he shows up, in the Buffy pilot. The character is barely recognizable then. Fortunately he grew pretty quickly into Real Angel. Oh, and there's that last time he showed up in Sunnydale where he for some reason behaves just like the guy from the pilot again - but I blame that bit of OOCness firmly on the Buffy writers and pretend it didn't happen.

Such is my withdrawal, that I even go to ffn in search of a fix.
I actually missed that :)

I didn't know that there was a language-barrier with smileys. Interesting.
I understood about 3/4 of the "hacker story" and that was enough to get a good laugh. The commenter who kept getting his link changed was great too. :-D
In conclusion: Yummy Sushi!

I think so, too. As far as the English-speaking internet goes, they're mostly used in the Manga/Anime community, I think. But sometimes I see people use them on livejournal or journalfen, and I always wondered what they mean (but felt stupid asking).
Makes sense, too, that the Japanese would have more varied emoticons, considering the language is much more nuanced than English (not to mention German).

Your German must be seriously good if you understood that much. Because, that was some awful, awful language. Not just colloquial, but grammatically oh so very wrong. And the typos. And the gutterspeak. *shudder*

You mean the guy who kept trying to post http://*SCHNIPPS*? ;o) Priceless.
In conclusion: Yummy Sushi!
Very much so.

My German can not be called good by any stretch of the English language. Maybe that is why I understood so much? The typos and grammar-errors would fly right by me. *g*
