Well, I'm not completely done with this page - a few tiny details left to do, and of course the lettering... but it's past four already, the birds are bound to start singing any minute *yawn*, I got a feeling I couldn't get a single balloon typo-free right now. So, tomorrow. For now, unlettered 'cause I want something to post... (*yaawwwnnmnnjmmmnn*)

eta: now it's lettered

I. am. in. awe.

When you've finished, I'm going to print the whole thing out in color, take it over to Staples, and have it bound and keep it forever.

Gah!

Thank you!

And, then, I'm gonna keep it next to my copies of Fray, Tales of the Slayer, and Spike&Dru.

Thank you! That makes my day. :o)

Once I've finished the final pages, I'll see that I put up a version with higher resolution for folks who want to print the comic for themselves. I'll just have to experiment a bit with the resolutions and file sizes (I'm only semi-literate when it comes to graphic files and such.)

Your colors are glorious. I love them. This is beautiful -- all the warm tones you manage to get into the alleyway. And God, that air and liquidity! The pavement alone gives me shivers. Beautiful reflections, and the way you spot those blacks!

The humorous colors worked a treat too -- the green in the swoosh panel is especially effective. And I love Puppet!Angel's consistent (and consistently funny) yellow fuzz. :D

This is just wonderful work.

Your icon, beauty!!

Thank you so much! Yeah, I'm really happy with the way the colours turned out, too. The pavement just... happened. Took only two glazes and very little tinkering... This is why I love watercolour so much. (I wish it would always go this smoothly.)

Angel's yellow felt always ads a nice counterpoint to all the dark shades. :o)

I do admire the time that you put in this fan-project and of course the result of it

It's time well spent. Feedback aside (which is very, very nice in itself) I'm learning tons of new stuff, 'cause I can go and try out things at my own leisure. Of course, a slight obsession with the subject matter helps with motivation.

It's all about channeling one's obsessions... I found that out when I made 'The X-Files' the topic of my diploma. Heh.

The amazing detail bowls me over.

Thanks! That's the nice thing about working without a deadline... there's time for the little details.

quick question: Did you ever decide on a title for this? I love it! I just stopped over at your Website and started to read the X-files comic. Gonna print it out and read it ASAP. Looks like a lot of fun!

[identity profile] astridv.livejournal.com 2005-04-13 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't yet though of a title. I'm thinking of playing around with song lyrics, maybe from the muppets show, see if I can get a play-on-words out of it. (It would help if I'd ever watched that show. Which I haven't). I just know that I don't want any mention of the word 'nose' in the title, because I don't want to give away the, um, plot. If you got any idea, I'm all nose ears ;o)

I hope you enjoy the xf comic. I drew that nine years ago, but I'm still quite fond of it. My friends actually made a 16-page parody of it, using only artwork from the original comic but twisting it into a whole new story. (If it weren't for all the in jokes, I'd be tempted to put that up on the web as well.)

Glad to See Such Great Progress!

Whoop! Good for you with all the progress! So nicely done... it makes me want to revisit watercolor! Colored pencils never worked for me as a way to color inked drawings, so perhaps this is the way to go!

BTW, have you seen Joss's Firefly?

Thanks! Yeah, watercolour is a great medium, challenging and rewarding. I love this book: How to Make a Watercolor Paint Itself (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0823057089/qid=1113433349/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl14/102-2012324-8552910?v=glance&s=books&n=507846) by Nita Engle. It's not for the beginner in that it doesn't bother with basic technique... she's developed her own experimental techniques, and the book really inspires you to go and try them out for yourself. It's a fun book, and very useful imho.

Firefly... no, haven't seen it yet. I'm still not really eager to watch anything outside the Buffyverse, though I'll probably check it out someday (I'm sorta fandom-monogamous. You could also say 'obsessed' *grin*)

Wow, that book actually does look very cool. I'll have to see if I can find it in my local bookstore, or else order it from the 'Zon.

Heh, I find myself more or less the same way about the original Star Wars trilogy. I mean, I watch a variety of stuff, but in terms of creation, most of my artwork is SW-based.

This is so cool! Love your puppet and your Spike...Where can I find more of this?

Hey, a new reader! I'm happy you like my version of puppet!Angel.

Where to find more: on my main journal page of recent entries, just scroll down a few posts. The April 12th entry has page 6 in colour. The entry from March 13th links back to all the previously done pages (there're only six altogether.) Just click on the thumbnail images. The first page also comes with the complete script.

Enjoy :o)
