a quick update to the ten things meme, as it is apparently not that uncommon to fall asleep in class... tsktsk
6. fallen asleep during art history, feet on the table in front of me, right in front of the lecturer
6. have been an extra for a day on 'Soldier, Soldier', a British drama series about a regiment that gets stationed around the world. One season was set in Münster, where I live. Me and my friends played the participants in an Aikido beginners class, and our job was mainly to pretend to suck so the guy who played the teacher would look better by comparison. (He knew zero about Aikido, but he did a fairly decent job faking it.)
Easiest money I ever made!
eta: I'll never forget that dialogue; it's burned into my brain: "I can feel the Ki flowing through your body." *arghpain*
eta2: Wow, this one I'd totally repressed: "In Aikido, there's no right or wrong. There's only ::meaningful pause:: discovery."

Heh. I was in a Raid (insecticide) commercial when I last lived in NYC. I just had to sit on a soundstage and tell the director (and the whole freaking world) about my humiliating roach infestation, which was cured by the bug bomb the company had thoughtfully given me.
I got really scared the minute the cameras rolled and to my recollection came off stiff and lame, but they used it anyway. And I never saw the commercial, but I got an Equity waiver form in the mail, and then four royalty checks. Free money! No wonder everybody wants to get into commercials. :)

*snicker*

I'd looove to get some more extra work on the side. Getting paid for something that's effortless & fun - there's no bad.
Commercials, otoh, with actual lines... point a camera at me and watch me turn into some kind of zombie. Not so good ;o)
