Saw Kita0610 and Monanotlisa do this... the fannish me in a nutshell:

I love Buffy, Angel, Connor, and Spike, because they're messed up and conflicted. And Cordelia, just because. My OTP at the moment is C/A, and I loved S6 Spuffy. While I prefer C/A fanfic to what ME hands us (gee, I wonder why) I've always liked S/B much better on the show. I'm one of the handfull of people who think that Buffy S6 is one of the best seasons. I think writing Connor out of the show is about the stupidest thing ME could do, but at least he got a great send-off. I more or less like all the characters on both shows; even Riley grew on me once he traded his superpowers for a personality. I don't care for aggressive shipping, no matter the character, and loathe character bashing, Real People Fic, and spoilers with a passion. I liked Happy Anniversary and Doublemeat Palace. I thought the AR in Seeing Red was necessary to ground the character again. At times I like to hear myself talk.

Sounds to me like you've got your head on straight.

Personally, I gave up my C/A 'shipper heart last season--just didn't work in reality the way it did in Starlet's stories. However, like you, I like my characters conflicted and even messed up. Buffy's more real to me in the last few seasons than she was at the beginning of the series.

Hey, you asked if I'm doing any more stories like "Regression" or "Tara Incognita." As a matter of fact, I am--my futurefic Connor/Dawn project tentatively titled "Sins of the Father." Should be good if I can get it off the ground (OBAFU's still taking up a lot of my writing time). Hope so, anyway.

Yeah, I've read about it in your journal, and I'm thrilled!

But that was just crappy writing. That wasn't C/A what we saw, that was all the characters talk about C/A, and about kyerumption (blechh). They never gave it a chance.

Regarding C/A--it wasn't even the writing that did it in for me. It was the chemistry. DB and CC work wonderfully together, but the dynamic between them just didn't lend itself to sexual tension for me. Just didn't see it. So I'm stuck with, "Great on paper, but failed to light up the screen."

Sometimes I saw it, sometimes I didn't. Waiting in the Wings - sparkling. Awakening - not so much (otherwise great ep, though). Depending on the director, maybe? I liked the little understated scenes, like Angel kissing Cordy's forehead in Magic Bullet. I would have prefered if they had gone with the UST instead of trying the romance angle, but what's done is done.
