New comic: Fear of the Dark, by Rheanna and Astrid (1-4/9)

Here is the first page of Rheanna's and my new comic. I'll be posting as WIP, adding new pages to this post as I finish them (and tinkering with the ones already posted...)

Fear of the Dark (page 1-4/~9)
Story by [livejournal.com profile] rheanna27, art by [livejournal.com profile] astridv
Characters: Jennifer Keller & Teyla Emmagan, plus team. (gen)
Rating: PG
Spoilers: set in season 5, post 'The Seed'
Summary: Sometimes the darkness follows you home...

I haven't actually done the full page breakdown yet, I got carried away drawing the first page. Nine pages is a rough estimate.

He he he... I mean, TBC

(No Keller-bashing, please!)

Ohhhh, new comic! YAY! Why is she back home? Just visiting or for good? I love that beadspread! Or is it a quilt? And I will probably never get used to the combination of bacon, eggs and pancakes. LOL

Ooh, very intriguing! :D

(btw, I can't remember if I gave a final review on the last comic -- I think it ended while I was in my fandom hiatus this winter -- but I did love it!)

Astrid, nice work.

Will you bring some original art at Comic-Con that we can look at?

Oh yay!

Yay! So pretty.

YayYayYayYay!

It looks fabulous -- I especially like the detail in the bedroom panel: the shelves with the books and the stuffed toy, the colours in the bedspread and the flowers in the vase.

(Oops, we still need a summary, too... :D)

I keep forgetting about those, don't I? Will think on this...

Beautiful layout, great title font. Just lovely, the whole page. :D

Eeee! :D A Jennifer-Teyla story! \o/ Yay!

Also, I love the juxtaposition between Jennifer's night-time fears and then the homey breakfast and dad in the next section.

Ah, but that would be telling! You gotta keep reading. :)

I love that beadspread! Or is it a quilt?

Yep, something like that. I was about to do something really intricately quilt-ish, with a nice pattern, but then I realized that I wasn't masochistic enough for that...

And I will probably never get used to the combination of bacon, eggs and pancakes. LOL

I know! Maybe I should try that some time.

Thanks. The nightmare panel was the easy part. Tentacles are definitely quicker to draw than interior spaces.

Hee!

User [livejournal.com profile] copracat referenced to your post from Hee! (http://copracat.livejournal.com/468527.html) saying: [...] Look what I woke up to this morning: Fear of the Dark, by Rheanna and Astrid (http://astridv.livejournal.com/143351.html), part one of a Jennifer and Teyla comic. I want to clap my hands with glee! In fact, I think I will. Sometimes, WsIP just make your day shiny. [...]

IMO the puzzling part starts once maple syrup comes into the mix. I can see bacon and pancakes easily enough, kind of like a savory crepe, and extra eggs, okay, there are some in pancakes already. But to have pancakes with maple syrup and bacon at the same time just seems gross. Like bacon chocolate, another incomprehensible concoction.

Yay, new comic and great start!

Hmm, I seem to remember that I had breakfast like this, at one of those pancake restaurants. It was quite tasty, too. But I didn't put the maple syrup on the bacon, though.

There was strawberry sauce, too.

I just had to use it here, because it was actually inspired by that SGA tentacle episode. Of course a tentacle rape icon is rather versatile and useful in a variety of fandom situations, but I drew this after watching The Seed.

Thanks!

Will you bring some original art at Comic-Con that we can look at?

Yeah, I'll probably bring some original stuff. But at this point all my original work is still children's book illustration. Though, I plan to get into original comic after all. Soon... ish. Eventually. :)

By the way, have you ever been to the big comic festival in Angouleme, in France? (I think that's where the 24-hour comic day originated, too?)

[identity profile] tipper-green.livejournal.com 2009-04-07 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
EEEEeee! So excited! Esp. as it's a Jennifer and Teyla story! How much do I love it already! Yay!

Mmmm, pancakes with bacon and maple syrup! Yummy goodness!
