SGA 5.16

The book, it is finished. I'd hop up and down except I'm too wiped. I finished with a week to spare which is awesome, because I need that week for all the stuff I've been putting off for the past month and a half. First order of business: color the missing page five of Rheanna's and my comic, so I can finally update. (With two pages, to make up for the delay :) I'm aiming for tomorrow. Though, dunno, I also plan to spend a couple hours at the gym tomorrow, and maybe even go to the zoo, because I CAN, and I don't have to rush anymore. Hah.

SGA 5.16: More squee. I liked it. A lot. Though I guess, uh, that's not a popular opinion on LJ. I'm trying to avoid negative episode reactions, which means I had to do some skipping and hopping and evading whilst cruising the friends list this morning. [livejournal.com profile] argosy made a support group for McSheppers with a soft spot for McKeller. ;)

I can't help it, I like the two together. I've liked the idea of them ever since that moment in Trio when Jennifer perks up when Rodney told them about his breakup with Katie. Something then just clicked for me. And I actually think they're pretty well matched, at least the way it's played out so far. We'll see where it goes.

The plot itself could've used more of a sense of danger... for me there was no real urgency or tension (and, well, not enough Atlantis) but the character moments and all the petty physicist infighting made up for it. I rather enjoyed watching Rodney going head to head with his peers. (And really, their attitude toward him made sense, considering they all remember SG-1 Rodney, not new, improved Atlantis!Rodney.)

Luckily I'm not totally alone in my liking of this episode...happy reviews: here's one by argosy, one by omglawdork, and one by horridporrid.

So, Rodney/Jennifer, fine; Rodney/John, hell yes, but both at once? Makes my head hurt.

This is a good point, and it makes me madly curious about how they're going to handle Rodney/Jennifer back on Atlantis. How is John going to react? (I tend to see John carrying a torch for Rodney that Rodney's either not aware of or is choosing to be unaware of.)

It's the sort of question I'd love to see addressed in a fic, but without any character bashing, which might be a tall order at this point.

Needle/haystack ;o)
If you find one, please share? At the moment I'm mostly staying away from post-ep McShep fics because I've seen enough Keller-bashing to become somewhat distrustful. But I'd love to read fic that deals with this triangle without resorting to character bashing.
