I'm theoretically in lurk mode until I've finished at least one more book page, but what the hell... I finished today's pensum two minutes before midnight (yay), and even managed to go running for an hour, and fit in my weekly massage, which is fortunate because yesterday I could feel the beginnings of my back knotting up again. But, I went to the gym soon as I felt the first twinge, and I think I managed to stave it off. I just can't afford to skip sports more than two days in a row; my back doesn't forgive that kind of negligence, therefore it won't save time in the long run. I'm resolved to find at least that one lousy hour from now on, no matter how busy I am or how empty the page looks.

8 pages down, 16 to go. Deadline is end of November but I want to finish at least a week early or it'll be the same deadline pressure for the next project.

What's annoying is that all this stress and overtime is just because I had to wait two weeks for my feedback... I could see it coming but couldn't do a thing to avoid it. &$*ยง!

... On to more pleasant things:

Rewind, Reboot, Restore by [livejournal.com profile] rheanna27
McShep; PG with implied slash; Set mid season 4; small spoilers for 'Missing'; 24k words
Summary: Liking Rodney McKay was very similar to how Douglas Adams had described flying: the trick was to throw yourself at him and miss.

"Oh, thank you for that blindingly obvious diagnosis, Doctor Perky. I've forgotten the last seven years of my life and you think I have amnesia. Tell me, if I came to you without my head, how long would it take you to tell me I'd been decapitated?"
Due to a snafu with Ancient technology Rodney gets reverted to the charming fellow we saw in SG-1's "48 hours" -- and John gets confronted with a part of Rodney's personality he'd rather not have seen. Amazing character piece with great plot and pitch-perfect characterization.

Story of My Life by [livejournal.com profile] busaikko
Rodney/Jennifer; PG; Written for [livejournal.com profile] artword; Spoilers through The Shrine; 1,685 words
Author's summary: Bravery doesn't always come in action-hero packaging. (Or, my take on the end of S5 *cue evil laughter*)

Somewhere in there I can see an epic fic looming, and I'd love to read that... but even these snapshots are intriguing and fun to read.

Reccing at stargateficrec is fun. I'd always shied away from it because you have to commit to reccing four fics a month, but turns out it's really no problem. I signed up for McCarter next month, after checking their tags and seeing that almost none of my favorites has ever been recced. Must rectify that!
