a couple more fanart recs (this is one productive fandom)
Today was my first real day off in weeks and it was glorious. (off as in, I *chose* not to work... as opposed to, that $ยง% painfully blocked vertebra kept me from working). I went rollerblading to my favorite art supplies store, read some fic, read some more fic (Galatea by
purna and Where Eagles Dare... by, uh, danvers(?) /quickrec), applied vacuum cleaner & broom to apartment floors, with satisfying results. Ignored phone call from editor (as it was my day off, dammit). Still swamped with work, but I'm slowly digging my way through. Deadlines for both projects at the beginning of July. At least the historical book is only one work week from completion. I'd love to just go ahead and finish the bloody thing to get it off my plate, but unfortunately the deadline for the other book is a week earlier, so from a time-management view it just makes more sense to work on that right now. Sigh.
I also finally updated my LJ userinfo to include preview pics. It should be much more user-friendly now. Also, shinier.
Okay, digging further into my to-rec folder: SGA fanart recs. These are just some more of my favorite
paintedspires posts; all the artwork posted there is worth checking out, really! I'm just so happy to be in a fandom where people post illlustration,

Sheppard & Steampunk!Puddlejumper by
ratcreature
Prompt: Victorian steampunk AU
Delightfully imaginative and fun pic.
or this one...
'Twas Brillig by
crysothemis
Prompt: John fights the Jabberwock with his vorpal sword
Neat composition, spot-on Shep likeness, and a very interesting coloring technique.
This piece was actually made for
literal_sga, not Painted Spires. Hilariously cheesy and at the same time really pretty:
Behind the Mask by
beeej
Summary: By day, he is John Sheppard, Laird of Ravenscraig Castle. By night, he is the Masked Raider, a thorn in the side of the evil Acastus Kolya, Duke of Atholl. Sir Rodney McKay, of neighboring Taymouth Manor, has nothing but disdain for the Laird, who he sees as a lazy fop with an overblown sense of entitlement. However, he is fascinated by the dark and mysterious Raider, and is determined to find out who hides behind the mask.
