fanart (now finished (I think))

preview

I tried something different with this one, combining a hand-painted scene with a photoshopped background. It didn't end up at all the way I intended... at some point it took a sharp turn and I just kinda went with it. The result is possibly a bit heavy on the FX, and boy, next time I'll go back to drawing and painting the background the traditional way because it's about thirty times faster. But I like it.

Hahaha !!! ^^
I love the idea : poor Rodney, great face !
Aww, the many tips of PS are just too precious, it matches perfectly with the characters !! ;)

And the look on John's face. He's not sure what to do: laugh his ass off, try and shoot the thing off McKay's leg, try and kick it but then run the risk of the thing grabbing on to him.

Priceless! :D

That's so very cool! Poor Rodney, all freaked out. Heeee. I especially love the alien creature hugging Rodney's leg and (I presume) Ronon's leg. Awesome.

Rodney's face is perfect! I can practically hear John saying "Huh".

i liked the drawing + photoshop background, the effect looks unusual and interesting. And the subject itself is pretty cool. The expression on Rodney's face as his leg is humped by the squirrel-monkey-from-hell is priceless

Hee! I love how Rodney and his passenger sort of have the same look on their faces. *g*

I love this. Ronon's leg coming through is a great addition b/c it really adds to that "moment in time " feeling.

Very cute. I don't know if I'm more sorry for Rodney or the little monkey critter *g* (Rodney is going to stand on its tail any minute now and then chaos will really erupt!).

The photoshopped background works well, I think, because the colours are consistent.Good job in matching them.

The look on Rodney's face is priceless. :D And Ronon's leg! John's indecisiveness! So much win.

Hehe! Most excellent. I'm in special awe of the puddle. You draw water like you breathe air.

Thanks. I didn't draw the puddle though! The whole background is photoshopped, while the guys and the little critter are mine. What I like about this is that your really can't tell where the one starts and the other ends. Interesting way to create illusion.

I was surprised myself how well they blend. I didn't do that much to the colors, except running them through a few filters. There was some luck involved. :)

Yay. That was exactly the impression I was going for.

Thank you kindly. Glad you think that I got Rodney's face right... he's often a bit tricky to draw, but I found his expression is a lot easier to catch when he's grimacing.

I think so, too. I was actually surprised how well it blends. At first it didn't mesh at all, it was only when - just for fun - I ran my artwork through the same filter as the screencap that it suddenly clicked into place. An interesting experiment, in any case.

Photoshop is a fantastic program. For the longest time I had a Photoshop phobia, but I'm starting to see the appeal now that I've tried it out a bit. It's still overwhelming, though.
