misc babbling & a fic rec

I put the sketches for the current project in the mail today, until I hear back I'm free to work on the comic. I really want to try to finish all the remaining pages this month. I'm coloring page 8 and 12 right now, as well as inking the pages in between.

Coloring is *hard*. Man. I keep forgetting. For page 12 I couldn't decide on a color scheme right away... usually a version of the colored page appears before my inner eye and I try to capture that impression, but my inner eye was changing its mind on this one. So I fooled around with two different versions before settling on the one I'm (probably) gonna go with. This is one of the very few occasions where I'd rather work with Photoshop than watercolor. When one suddenly realizes that sky color absolutely doesn't go with the rest of the page eekwhatwasIthinking!, it would be nice if one could just change it with two mouse clicks.

Fic rec: By way of [livejournal.com profile] makd I found this rather cool Supernatural/AtS crossover by [livejournal.com profile] killabeez: Days Like This
Gen, Angel&Dean, 9,200 words
Summary: Tentacles. Why did it have to be tentacles?
Great descriptions and character voices. A highly entertaining read. And I don't even read in SPN, usually.

Today's sudden snowfall kept me from getting to Yoga class. Again. I was so looking forward to the class (so was my back, after a too long winter break). I made it as far as one block on my bike before I decided that it wasn't worth risking a fall, back pain be damned. The fact that everybody else I saw were pushing their bikes wasn't encouraging either. Three inches of snow are enough to slow the traffic in this city to a crawl.

Over the past weeks, I went back as far as 200 entries to tag most of my LJ posts. It was actually fun to re-read some of the older entries. It's funny, sometimes I know years later exactly what fic I was reading or what music I was listening to at the time I worked on a certain project, and when I read what I posted back then, it totally jogs my memory.

Haven't watched 'Bones' yet therefore still avoiding the flist. But, I've already watched Tuesday's NCIS. Loved it. Very gripping, and for once I had no idea how it all would end. I was surprised by every single plot development. It helps that I can't locate the LJ fandom so at least I'm safe from spoilers. Hey, flist, is there anyone here at all who watches that show, too?

[eta: and, watched 'Bones'. Excellent episode. From the preview I wasn't at all sure I'd enjoy this one but I liked it tremendously. Now off to read what everybody says...]

Glad you enjoyed, Days Like This. I don't watch Supernatural, don't read the fic either. However, this fic? I didn't need to read/know anything about SPN - it was that well written.

Bones was terrific. I loved the scenes with DB and Stephen Fry. And Sully? ::is cute::

He is cute. (Doesn't look like Boreanaz at all though, unlike on that one still I saw.) I like him. What is more, I'm completely bying him and Brennan going on a date, whereas I never, not even in the last episode, saw anything between Booth and Cam. Seriously, the scene where he sat at her bed last week... left me completely cold, I was starting to suspect that deep down I'm a fierce shipper. Heh.

That part also impaired my enjoyment of last week's ep. I liked this episode much more, though from my first quick reads of other posts, possibly I'm in the minority. :)

The scenes with DB and Fry were incredible. They hit the perfect note for those. I'm almost completely unspoiled for further eps, so I have no idea if Fry is coming back; I hope so.

I miss yoga, too.

Coloring is *hard*.

Well, that makes me feel a bit better -- you're terrific, and if you say it's hard, well, it must be pretty damn hard. ;)

I need to send you an email. The room sitch doesn't look good.

pretty damn hard *sigh* but still fun.

re room: drats. Why do they even include a fax form if they disregard them anyway? No way mine was too late. And I'm certain I didn't send it too early either, I made sure beforehand that my clock was accurate to the second.

But well, doesn't matter, I guess. Pool would sure be nice, but we'll have a roof over our heads in any case.

I have absolutely no "problem" with Brennan and Sully as another diversion along the way, but I find the way it was actually written a bit annoying. He seemed a little cheesy in his Renaissance man role and she just sorta seemed... stupid, too much of a pushover given the way she usually acts.

I loved the way Fry's character took the "let 'im stew" approach :)

{Now you can go read my observations :p}

Really? It totally worked for me, I'm not even sure why. Thing is, the whole thing didn't even We'llfeel so much like a obviously contrived diversion from the B/B (unlike Booth/Cam)... I actually liked watching them together. I mean... not that I'd want to see Booth and Brennan separated so much in future eps, but for now, it was an interesting change from the routine.

I think Sully won me over when he dug into that sandwich with much enthusiasm. And his flimsiness is quite the opposite from Booth, at least so it appears for now. Could be interesting.

Yup. I've barely read anything so far, but I can already see that the opinions are all over the board.

(is flimsiness the right word here? I think I'm looking for a different one...)
