another mystery solved
Today I figured out how I switched between German keyboard (quertz) and American (querty), which has been driving me nuts for months now. The keyboard would seemingly randomly switch, and it did that all the time. I had to close all my browser windows to get the default setting back, a trick I learned from a friend who has the same problem and also never figured out why. The thing seems to be IME related... I have IME activated to make use of East Asian fonts, as does my friend.
So, I finally found the shortcut that causes the switch. It seems ridiculously obvious but hey, just in case someone here has the same problem: shift/ctrl is the culprit. At least by now I've learned my way around an American keyboard.
re work: As of now, eleven of the large pages are done, one left. Very manageable. There are also dozens of details left to add, stuff I left open because I still have to research something or other. Those will take another week but that's fine, it's the large pages that are so draining... each takes me an average of 20 hours to paint, it becomes exhausting after a week or two. Anyway, I'm rather looking forward to spending some time on polishing those pages now, adding details here and there.

*peers at own keyboard* Not that I've ever had this problem, but you never know...

The keyboard thing was really weird, but it seems to be just a helpful feature of the Windows language pack. I like to double-check English expressions I'm not sure about in google... and the key combination I use for that triggered the keyboard switch whenever I did it too quickly. Really annoying when you can't find the question mark on your keyboard.
