I've been working 80 hour weeks [eta: okay, make that 70... after all I took new year's eve off, and half of my birthday, for purposes of partying] for a good three weeks now and you know what I just noticed? I'm really, really, *really* itching for a kerfuffle. I should stay away from 206_bones for the next few hours. *cough*

Good thing I have to leave the house in half an hour, and then I have pilates class which will hopefully channel all that energy in a more productive way. ;O)

I know *groans*
I have a work deadline coming up, so I don't have much available brainspace left for fandom... I'm mostly in lurk mode and I barely read any fic. But, I got a ton of work done over the holidays... I'll be back, ready for procrastinating on LJ, in the near future.

Please. 206_bones? I haven't felt the need to keep 300ft back from a comm in ages... *rolls eyes*

Someone said something like, "this comm should be called 206_rules."

Worry not, it's not in Buffyfandom.

Is [livejournal.com profile] 206_bones where the kerfuffles are happening these days? Hmmm.... *considers joining just to have something to watch* ;)

The community mods are tightening up in response to complaints about icon posts and fic posts cluttering things up, which they have to a certain extent.
Historically the comm has been more open, so there are arguments about the issues, plus calls for a poll.

Interesting. *peeks over there*

I have to say I don't blame the mods for their choices in restrictions - if there are a kafillion other fic and icon and fandom communites then hey, why bother adding to the friends-list clutter. Mind you, I'm not a member over there so I'll just leave my $0.02 at that.

Normally that list is wank-free. Well, probably some wank brewing under the surface; it's fandom, after all. But I knew the moment I saw that post that this could send it over the edge.

[identity profile] newscaper.livejournal.com 2007-01-03 05:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I stirred things up some.
I get their point, but raised some compromise ideas.
Then I stuck my neck out a little :)

I get their point, too, though it could have been handled a lot better and I still think they'd be going against the majority with this.

Hardcore! Bravo. And a happy new year.

Heh - will this be the Bones fandom's very first kerfuffle?

I just mentally calculated and cut that figure down to a more realistic 70 hours... after all, there were a few evenings I didn't work, and a few hours spent lurking at fandom wank. Heh.

Heh - will this be the Bones fandom's very first kerfuffle?

First thing in my mind when I read the flist. Well, there was the tiny uproar last year, when the tie-in writer got Booth's appearance wrong... that made f_w, but it wasn't spectacular by their standards.

I'm really, really, *really* itching for a kerfuffle.

WUL FOR REALZ IM TYPING THIS ON JWANEETA'S LAPTOP IN HOSPITAL SHE IS FADING FAST OMG. SHE FOUND OUT HER DB MANIPS MADE HER PEEPS SO MAD AND SHE OD'D ON ASPIRIN AND ECCINACEA. IM COLLECTINMG FIC AND STICKY RICE FOR HER AND PAYPAL.

Her sisters are here now they look so sad. She was getting married! i... i... *runs away, sobbing*

Okay i have to post moar becuz this is just horrible that peep wud doubt Jwaneeta she is the sweetest, kindest, slashiest, most gernerous, most clement, most random person in fandom!!1!1 the h8ters R lying cuz they R jealuos! i just saw her and she was crying on the bed. its to bad when people get heartsbroken over some little opinions that aren't even real!

This is Doctor Halbert Osoborn Smith, Jwaneeta's phycissin. I an proud and happy to report on her progress she is a very brave young lady. How interesting it is to comunicate in this manner with so many of her firends and admires, this so-called internet system is truly a marvel. Jwaneeta is at the crisis but I see so often that love and support make all the difference in these bad cases. Again, thankl you for the opportunity to set forth my thoughts to all her supoortive friends in the internet.

i have to go because my mother is mad for me spending so much time here at night. Pray for jwaneeta to make it thru the night. If you want to talk on IM, she and I will have a chat room to get her thru the next criticle hours.

this is just so much to take on.

Obviously what you need is a sockpuppet!
ext_2027: (Default)

[identity profile] astridv.livejournal.com 2007-01-03 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
That would come so handy! But I couldn't even make up a username/nom de plume... I would probably fail miserably at sockpuppeteering. They'd track me down in five minutes.

[identity profile] newscaper.livejournal.com 2007-01-03 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Here'a [possibly] new idea for sock puppetry:

Instead of puppet admirers (too easily spotted), create one's own set of harassing trolls and try to gain notoriety/sympathy that way.

Has anyone tried that out?
ext_2027: (Default)

Oh boy

[identity profile] astridv.livejournal.com 2007-01-03 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
The short answer: Yes

The long answer is roughly 90,000 words and comes in the form of "The MsScribe Story" report.

I have a brief description & link in this post (http://astridv.livejournal.com/53505.html). It's investigative journalism at its best, entertaining as hell. I'm not interested in Harry Potter fandom, but I was still sucked in. I swear, the thing reads like a mystery novel, and the best thing is, it's all true. So if you have a bit of spare time, just start reading... and find your question answered.

by the way, msscribe is far from the first or the only one who tried that. She's just the most notorious sockpuppeteer to date.
