I come bearing a seasonal rec: [livejournal.com profile] annakovsky's gorgeous post-apocalyptic Christmas story The Weary World Rejoicing and its sequel Out of This Stony Rubbish (BtVS). Powerful writing, full of literary allusions. These fics left me feeling lighthearted in spite of their darkness. Just beautiful.

To everyone who celebrates I wish a very Happy Christmas!

My family already gathered for Christmas last week, so tonight B. and I will make some nice fried lamb and couscous, then it's back to work. Yesterday night I finished the sixth page. Late at night, bloody thing took all day again, but I think I'm finally hitting my stride. And tomorrow I'll have the whole house to myself. I love my housemates dearly but I'm quite looking forward to leaving all the doors open and playing my music as loud as it'll go. The gym will be closed, as well as all the shops, so without distractions the plan is to get a lot of work done.

*blink* getting two more pages done by tomorrow night... yes. that's what I want for Christmas!

Those are great stories, aren't they? I miss her BtVS writing.

Her fic is amazing. OOTSR even motivated me to grab of copy of "The Waste Land" again. ;) (Okay, the poem still makes little sense to me, but all the allusions add a whole other level to the story and it's fascinating as hell.)

I have a feeling there's a whole lot of content in her writing that goes straight over my head, me not being that well-versed in English literature... but the stories are enjoyable and meaningful on every level.

I miss her BtVS writing.

Yeah. Sigh. So many of my favorite writers have moved on to greener pastures... and mostly to shows I'm not watching, darn.

A great holiday to you too. :)

Today was pretty much perfect: I worked with almost no interruption for ten hours, finished a page, and it looks good, yay. Just what I wanted for Christmas. *happy sigh* (Well, I wanted two pages but that would've required a minor miracle.)

It's been a while since I've been able to concentrate for such a long time in a row, so really, this feels awesome. And now I'll treat myself to an episode of NCIS and a few of the fics that've been piling up for the past weeks...

If those stories don't put you in the holiday spirit, nothing will. :o)
