Okay, before everyone leaves for the holidays, a quick question for the flist: How do you get your tags displayed on the main page of your journals? I always thought I couldn't do that because I had a free account but now that I upgraded to paid, I still can't. So I guess my elljay-fu must be too weak. Also, some people have their favourite web sites listed; that would come in handy, too.

Another thing: any NCIS fans here, by any chance? 'cuz I got kick-ass fic that I just read - long, plotty, incredibly well written - and no one to rec it to. I'm itching to share it.

I think if you don't want to spend ages selecting features for your journal (like displaying tags) it's a function of the page layout you select. It turns out I got it without asking for it when I chose a new screen design.

I hope that helps. Enjoy the upgrade!

P.S. You can always rec a fic of any fandom...somebody will probably check it out.

Haven't a clue about those tag things...I don't bother with them.
I think I have a couple of NCIS fans on my flist! If you post a link, someone will be happy, I'm sure.
Hope you have a very Happy Christmas with your family!

A Happy Christmas to you too!

I think I'll give up on the tag thing for today and do something productive instead...

Hm. I tried out every available style LJ offers, there're only about ten to choose from, but to no avail. Do you know what the layout you use is called?

I think I'm missing something, maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.

P.S. You can always rec a fic of any fandom...somebody will probably check it out.

A lot of people don't read outside their fandoms... well, I never do, anyway... but I might go ahead and rec it anyway in the hope there's the lone NCIS fan reading this.

I use "Expressive" layout which seems to include the tags automatically, although not necessarily links. Is that showing up as one one you can choose? I didn't see it until I upgraded to a paid account.

And if you rec the NCIS I might read it anyway. I occasionally use lj recs to expand my areas of interest.

Ah, found it, thanks! I had to switch to S2 to get another list of styles. This'll do for now. :o)

I actually coded mine by hand so they would be side-by-side instead of one long row down.

Okay, coding by hand sounds easy enough. Just, where do I insert that code?? I tried 'Look and Feel' and 'Custom Options' under 'Journal Display', but it just gives me a short list of available styles, and I tried every single one of them. *groan*

You have to add the code in the advanced s2 customization page, which involves creating a Style and layers, etc.

Oh, thanks. I found a style that displays tags by default, but I'll definitely try this as well, see if I tinker with it a little.
