fic rec: Bones
"The Princess in the Tower" by
mooners
Links: on LJ or on ffn
This story builds a compelling mystery right from the first line, and several intriguing plot lines will keep the reader guessing.
The fic is already finished and is posted a chapter every Monday; prologue and the first five chapters are up. I'm torn between thinking up ploys to bribe the author into updating faster, or being happy to have a new chapter to look forward to every Monday.

I'm hoping that I'll have the sequel in the bag by the time I finish posting this one, so I don't have to keep you guys waiting. I just have to take it casually though, otherwise the pressure will make my muse get all wimpy ;) Yours and others' comments are really helping to get me going though :) I'm still on chapter 1 of the sequel but it's mostly because it's a delicate part. Once the action kicks off then it should flow on better... hopefully *crosses fingers*
So again, thanks for the rec :)

Well, there is something to be said for delayed gratification. :)
Oh btw, hope it's alright if I friend you? :)
Sure. No need to ask, I got a casual friending/unfriending thing going.

(Anonymous) 2006-12-12 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)I am eagerly anticipating mondays! It's nice to have something to look forward to, but on the other hand instant gratification sounds pretty good at the end of every chapter...

*nod* WIP posting does has advantages. Certainly with a monster of a fic like SV. I couldn't imagine doing something this huge and time-intense without any immediate feedback. I have no willpower in that regard, anyway... as soon as I finish a page, I want to show at least a few people. And as you say, it's useful to get the immediate reactions to see if it's working like one thought. The reader reactions can be enlightening. (thinking back to a certain scene...)
And I admit, as a reader I'm warming up to the concept, too. The waiting is fun (in a masochistic way, I guess *g*)
But speaking as someone who's been burned by unfinished WIP dozens of times, it sure is nice to know a story is already complete so I can count on my weekly dosage.

Yeah, such are the ways of elljay. Once it logged me out and wouldn't let me log in again. That was interesting.

Heh. True. But it helps knowing that it's already done so I can count on my Monday fic update.
