Am now in a very pleasant little hostel in Fullerton, Orange County. Private room for less than 30 bucks, and in the LA area no less. Happy camper here. But I'm glad I haven't made this place my base of operations as planned since it was an odysee to get here from LAX. Man, people sure aren't kidding when they talk about how you're screwed without a car in LA. Moving down the coast tomorrow. LA will have to wait for another time.
