Today I went indoor climbing at a bouldering wall that is only one train station away from my hostel. It doesn't get more convenient than that. :) I was eager to go climbing while I can still profit from the increased red blood cell count that you get while spending time at a high altitude. The difference was really noticeable! I could have climbed for another hour, my muscles hadn't even started to tire but I had to stop when my hands were too shredded. Like, literally... tore three callouses off, dammit. Now I have to wait a couple days before I can climb again, and who knows how long this will last.
Then again, my next stop is California which is quite a bit lower altitude than SLC, so maybe I get to feel this energized for a while longer. (It's hard-earned, too... the first couple days in Yellowstone, between the jetlag and the high altitude, I felt like a zombie...)
