I went to the climbing hall tonight to meet with my new climbing partner, who's super enthusiastic and can't wait to get started. Alas, when we arrived they just closed down for the night because, it turns out, we were the only two people in my town who'd rather go climbing than watch Germany-France, apparently.

I'd asked them Wednesday whether they'd be open and they said that, yup, someone got the short straw. Whoever got the short straw went AWOL to watch football instead.

(At least we won.)

I did some shopping while the game was on and the two drugstore employees still present were actually watching football, though in sight of the cash register, so the store still functioned and one came over when I wanted to pay for my toilet paper. They wore colors too, like caps and face paint...

And the cafe on the corner that usually is always packed around this time especially in good weather, was completely empty, because it didn't have a tv running as every other pub/restaurant/fast food diner/cafe did.

Yeah, the pizzaria where I got a salad on the way back didn't have a tv either, and the place was completely empty. Another pizzaria that showed the game was packed.
