AoS finale speculation

Been thinking about possible scenarios for the finale… I don’t see any way for Ward to get back on the team, zero, not anytime soon anyway. Right now I’ll be relieved if he survives the season. But, I think I’d be really okay with it if the season ended with Raina, Ward, and Mike thrown together, on the run from Shield (or what remains of it), the government, and Hydra.


Garrett has surrounded himself with henchmen whose loyalty is on shaky ground and I hope that's gonna come back and bite him in the ass.

Mike: blackmailed and remote-controlled, possibly brainwashed given the way he’s acting.

Ward: conditioned into unquestioning loyalty from the start but starting to unravel and feeling conflicted, so I hope he’ll start questioning his orders and ultimately turn against Garrett.

Raina: lured in with the promise of something Garrett, turns out, can’t deliver. I have no idea what it is she’s searching for, but it seems really important to her and if Garrett is no real clairvoyant, is there enough reason left for her to do his dirty work?

The more I think about it, the more I would like to see this play out. I wanna see these three go against Garrett and his Hydra cell.

(Plus, I’ve liked Raina since The Magical Place, I can’t help it, and I want to see more of her. What makes her tick.)

I was really taken with Raina too; she was a very interesting bad guy. I am glad to hear they brought Mike back. I missed that part. (Keeping up with a real time fandom is SO HARD, LOL.)

Raina is so compelling! All those scenes with Coulson in 1x11 - there she was so clearly manipulating him yet I found myself compelled by her, same as Coulson did. I would really like to find out more about her, and I hope they won't write her off as a one-dimensional baddy.

I really like this idea. I'm definitely in the camp where I want to see Ward have a redemption story.

Yeah, I like this idea a lot. I haven't seen this theory from anyone else, but I don't think it's an implausible outcome. Well, wait and see...

If Ward doesn't get a chance at redemption after all these hints at his mega-awful, abusive upbringing and backstory... man, that would make a depressing and disappointing story. I so hope they won't write him off.

They have been pointing out that Ward's feelings for Skye are real: the Asgardian (Lorelai?) indicated that much, and then he passes the lie detector when he switches to talking about Skye. If he completely turns against Garrett, I suspect it will be to protect/save Skye. So a redemption arc seems possible to me!

Yeah, his feelings for Skye are real, no doubt. But I don't think it's going to be just her that draws him back. That's a lot to put on one person. Last episode kind of emphasized that this kind of desperate, obsessive love where that one person is the only light in your darkness is not a good thing.

I think his feelings for Skye will play a role, but also Coulson as a positive influence vs Garrett's crappy role model. Maybe it's gonna be more Coulson vs Garrett battling it out for Ward's soul. Or maybe the entire team is important; I can't believe he felt *nothing* for Fitz and Simmons, and May.

Plus, there's the unknown factor of Raina...

It's all very interesting but I'm telling ya, if this was a book, I'd be taking sneak peeks at the ending to make sure it doesn't end in misery. I'm kind of glad in hindsight that I watched the first few seasons of Buffy and Angel years later when I was already spoiled for the important arcs.
