Agents of SHIELD (not a review, just incoherent flailing)

Haaghnn. I just watched and it was so intense, my heart is still racing. This show is getting better and better (while I'm getting more and more worried for my favorites). Funny when a line like "take them all out" is actually reassuring because at least that means that none of them are working with the enemy. (Hopefully!)

Called it on the Clairvoyant! Ha!

The people who say this show is boring and badly written are clearly living in some bizarro alternate universe.

Having already seen Captain America definitely didn't hurt. In fact it adds an interesting dimension to this episode. It makes a whole number of scenes appear in an entirely different light.

I was thinking about that this morning. I've not seen Winter Soldier yet (Sunday morning!) but I remember that some of the criticism abut the early season was that it was making SHIELD too friendly, and I think watching this season all at once, when the DVD comes out, will really emphasize what we knew in the beginning, that Coulson isn't SHIELD and hasn't been since he died. Blake, I think, is a better representative agent, because we don't trust him, even when he does the right thing.

I could never understand that criticism because I thought SHIELD was written murky as hell right from the beginning. (I don't want to say more until you've seen the movie...)

Oh, there's a lot of criticism for the show that I don't get, honestly. It hits my buttons, though, and I'm enjoying the ride.

Yeah, there's that. Roughly 90% of the criticism makes me scratch my head and wonder through what filters these people are watching the show. If they're even watching the show. And some of the criticism seems to still be based on the pilot and very early epiosdes, which is kinda like someone dismissing Prisoner of Azkaban based on the first chapters of the Philosopher's Stone.

I just caught up with the last two episodes and am now also flailing.

Wasn't it brilliant? My god, it's been a really long, long time since a tv show had me so on the edge of my seat.

Yeah, the suspense works. Though I hope it won't turn out too complicated when tying in with the movies, i.e. that it really is like your theory on the clairvoyant, and we'll learn that May's encrypted communications were with Fury or something like that, and not two different shadowy entities working inside Shield or other too baroque setups that keep the series plot more parallel. I mean, with comics you never know how convoluted something turns out.

Fury or mayby Hill, is my guess. I don't think she's working for yet another faction.

What I do think is that SHIELD is gonna split into two or probably more splinter groups now. It's not like this huge international organization will disappear overnight, no matter what Steve said, and they did accomplish some important stuff beyond the whole ruling the world through fearmongering... what's happening to the warehouses full of dangerous artifacts and prisons full of gifteds? So many questions... but those are pretty straightforward problems.

Haven't watched yet - my work trip threw me behind on all tv watching except for deciding to take a left turn into Veronica Mars, so I still have a couple episodes to catch up.
