This morning, as I was browsing the aos tag, I saw some post about how Loki should be on SHIELD so he can apologize to Coulson and Coulson can apologize to Loki.

Couple hours later, I'm still going "lol whut?"

Haha, I know right? I hear about these things but normally I don't see them first hand in my corner of the fandom.

I like a good redemptionist fic now and again, but exactly what in canon would Coulson have to apologize for? Fandom!

I think they said why, in that post, but it didn't compute... I can't even remember what the reasoning here was.

It's been a while since I've seen Thor and Avengers, but I'm not sure Loki and Coulson even had a scene together before the stabbing. So now I'm kind of curious as to what the reasoning is.

Pity that on tumblr, unless I bookmark a post, I'm never gonna find it again.

Oh hey, I actually found it again. Here is their, um, reasoning. (I'm copying the post in full.)

So I’m rewatching some of the Agent’s of SHIELD episodes and the more I watch it, the more I want Loki and Phil to see each other again, and I just want them to apologize to each other.

And not Loki for stabbing him, because it’s not in his nature, but because he knows how Coulson feels with wanting to die.

But I want Coulson to apologize, apologize and realize he feels like Loki a bit: he was lied to by his “parent”, SHIELD about what happened to him in “Tahiti”. He wanted to die after he saw what he saw and now that he’s not dead, he’s prepared to fix Shield by ‘taking them down’.

Just like Loki. (read as: finding out he’s Jotun, trying to destroy the Frost Giants and then tried to kill self at the end of ‘Thor’ but then not dead so… his ‘fix’ is to rule earth in ‘Avengers’)

Different tactics and ways, but now he and Loki are so similar it’s not funny.

I want them to see each other again, just to see what they say because they both have to know: they are more alike than they know.

My brain still can't follow their particular logic.

Hm. Well....it's a comparison, and kind of a stretch at that. Still don't know why they're using the word apology, tho.

For blunting the edge of Loki's sceptre with his heart maybe?

That must be it. Plus he was getting blood all over the sceptre.

No, no no, and no. Yet another example of people forgetting that Tom Hiddleston is adorable, but he is not the same person as Loki. Loki is not adorable.

SHIELD is the only part of the megafandom I watch, but I'm fairly sure Loki stabbed Coulson to death. Right?

Yup, that is what happened.

It's hard to take the pretty pretty bad guy character apologists seriously.
