more unpopular opinions (how could I not)
gakked from everyone else.
1. Taste.
We all got different ones.
For some reason, people have a problem with that.
How, for example, can slashers take offense in non-slashers stating they'd never read slash - yet in the same post they say they wouldn't read het? (And why do I find myself categorized as a non-slasher after years of being a card-carrying Garak/Bashir shipper ;o)?) It's the whole 'If you're not with us, you're against us' attitude that's bugging me. And it's not just slash; it's all over the fandom, and the reason why I stay the hell away from most boards.
Why can't I mention that I usually don't read a particular pairing/genre when I recommend a story? It's just to illustrate how much the writing convinced me. How can anyone possibly be offended by me not loving their pairing/genre quite as much as they do? It doesn't always have to be about politics -- most of the time it's just a matter of TASTE, for crying out loud.
I mean, fanfiction (in a way) is like a huge buffet - I have a favourite dish; most of us do. I also like to go around and get a taste of some of the other things. As long as they're well cooked... written. And that's all there is to it.
Also...
2. I think Season six of Buffy was one of the best.
3. I find RPF offensive.
4. Spoilers are like cigarette smoke - if you like'em, knock yourself out. I just don't like them forced upon me second hand.
I've forgotten the rest. That's probably a good thing.

2. Season six was decent, just to bad that they didn't bother to redeem Buffy from it.
3. RPF is just wrong. It's one thing to write about characters, but to write about real life people... It's just... wrong.
4. Yeah, just cause I can't stay away from spoilers, doesn't give me the right to throw them on others without their permission. I always try and ask first, no matter how much I like to talk about them.

Right. Only sometimes I think fans would find a way to kerfuffle about someone's favourite color. I just learned that apparently Spike's duster is a controversial issue all in itself. Still trying to wrap my mind around that. ;o)
