8==8 Bones fic 8==8

I never quite realized how spoiled we were in the Buffy fandom... with the, you know, thousands of fanfics to choose from and a well-established recs network. On this note I'm making a list of Bones stories I enjoyed reading. Partly for my convenience, so I can more easily stalk these authors. Also, I like making lists.

The Evil That Men Do by [livejournal.com profile] lisaroquin
Supernatural/Bones crossover, and the first actual casefile I could find. Long plotfic with an interesting (and rather gruesome) case. Well-written, too. There's the occasional typo and oddly phrased sentence, and the fic is more Supernatural than Bones in that the characterization of the Winchester brothers has considerably more depth than that of the Bones crew - but plot and action more than make up for that! The first few pages read a little bumpy since I never watched Supernatural and had no clue who these characters were... but I got sucked into the story pretty quickly, and invested in the characters... in fact I got so interested that I actually downloaded the pilot yesterday (and can I say, creepy!) and I think I'm gonna check out the next episodes as well. I highly recommend this one, if you like your fanfic with an intriguing plot.

Booth/Zack. Okay, see, my Booth is (unlike his vampire alter ego) straight as a board... but this story works well, I thought. It's amusing and the author just nailed Zack. (I'm talking about the dialog.)

If you think I overlooked a good one, kindly point me in the right direction. :)

Ah, yes. I know that series is very popular, but I can't get into it. A few punctuation issues aside I thought the first few installments were really promising, but then she lost me. It's just, the writer's view of S/A is so completely, totally, 100% different from my own that it throws me out of the story. I have no problem with S/A as such. Did those two shag like bunnies back in the day? Hell, yeah. But, their relationship - a loving, tender one? Just doesn't work for me. Which is a pity, since I like those longer stories which have a lot of plots and subplots.

When I read stories like that, I always wonder what show other people are watching. And there's a lot of fic out there that feminizes one or both of the vamps. I don't see the appeal at all (mildly put).

Thank you! I think I've read at least 1/2 of these - so 1/2 are new!! YAY!

I've been reccing Bones fic with my monthly fic recs, so you might want to review them to see if you're missing any. This is a great service; thank you again.

Mission accomplished, yay. I figured most of us have read more or less the same fics, since we're all reading the same communities. But you never know. I'll have to go back and check your older posts... I already recognized the ones you mentioned in your latest post, but maybe I missed some in the previous ones.

If you find the time to read something longer, check out the one by lisaroquin. It's the most involved fic I've read in a while. I finished it two days ago and I still find myself thinking about it. Pity it's not betaed (I'm not that much of a grammar stickler, but it's always a bit distracting.) Still, great stuff. And I'm dl'ing another ep of Supernatural ;o)

Which reminds me, still haven't feedbacked. Agh. So little time for everything.

I don't watch supernatural,

Neither did I, then I read this fic. Since then, I've downloaded 15 episodes. ;o)
