All this thinking about 3d illustrative art reminded me of a set of dioramas I did a few years ago.

Tricky to convey at least some of the spatiality. (Bit better to see on this version.)
This photo didn't turn out too bad but the other pictures were unusable. I have to figure out the correct lighting conditions so I won't get so many reflections. Would be easier if I could take the glass out but they're solid.
I have to figure out what to do with them. I have so much accumulated art lying around here, maybe I can try to market at least some of that stuff.

(BTW, I've just seen an artist on Tumblr offer something like this, i.e. the layered cardboard in a flattish diorama, for sale.)

I hear you on the "hip-deep in art" problem, though I expect mine isn't nearly as bad (yet...). This is the problem with doing art: you end up with all of these physical objects at the end, that you don't necessarily want!
