[personal profile] selenak's big post of Connor love pretty much sums up my own feelings about Connor and his relationship with Angel. I loved Connor from the moment he jumped out of that portal.

Most of you have probably already seen this, I think it was linked on [livejournal.com profile] su_herald... but some might not and this is too good to miss:[livejournal.com profile] _eb attended the annual Screenwriter's Expo where, among other things, Tim Minear was teaching a class on story breaking. They were outlining an episode of AtS as an example. It's extremely interesting to see how the show's writers break the storyline for an episode. It makes me want to drop everything and write fan fiction. (The post has a transcript of an interview with Joss as well.)

Lots of work at the moment. I'm working on three books at the same time, and as a result I don't have a clue whether I'm still on schedule. Usually I can tell to the day where I am, deadline wise. Hngh. But at least the sketches for project no.1 are already greenlighted, the ones for no.2 will hopefully get the okay next week without extensive changes *keeps fingers crossed*, and I just finished the rough sketches for no.3, though I still have to fit them to the proper format and add a few backgrounds. At least that one stage will be completed soon. I need to feel I'm making some progress.

In other news, turns out that my printer troubles were indeed caused by my very own firewall, and while it cost me a whole day of trying to figure out why it went on strike, at least now I know where the problem lies. Approximately. Unfortunately I have no idea which of the countless programs listed as blocked is the one process needed by the printer... but I can print if I have to... just have to disable my firewall for half a minute (gulp).

Thanks for linking to that! It was fascinating and educational. :)

I thought so, too.
Btw, I still owe you mail. Got the page, and again, the colouring is impressive. Just out of interest, can you tell how long it takes to do one, approximately? I'm still wondering whether it's in any way faster than traditional media... though I can't imagine, with all the nuances you put in there. The headlights on the road look really convincing.

Hey, thanks! :) I guess it takes me about eight hours on average. It depends on how much detail there is. City scenes, like the top and bottom panels of page 10, were huge time sinks. (Page 10 took an additional four hours mostly because I couldn't decide which colors to use in the background.) Outdoor scenes go faster since I can paint wide swaths of green and sky.

If you decide to digitally color something I'd be happy to give you more specifics. :)

*nods* Eight hours is about what it takes me to colour the traditional way as well. Markers is faster than watercolour, but the artwork is hard to scan with satisfying results so I stopped using them for anything but quick sketches. So, not so much a matter of time saving, but some of the effects are definitely interesting. I think I really want to try at one point to combine both. I already have my graphics tablet and Photoshop. Time to start using them for real.

Thanks! I might get back to you on that.

Strange that it both methods take about the same amount of time. *ponders*

The thing I like best about digital coloring is Photoshop layers. If you want to try something that might not work, you just duplicate the layer, work on the duplicate, and keep it if you like the effect.
