e-bay question

Has anyone ever had trouble making a payment via e-bay? I just bought an item from a seller overseas, and he insists on Pay Pal. I've been trying all day to send him the money, but when I click on the 'pay' link on the invoice mail, I get a message that says a system error has occurred, please try again. When I log directly onto my account and try to pay from there, it says I should click on the 'pay now' button. But there is no 'pay now' button. When I click on the merchandise, it tells me to pay the seller with my credit card. I don't know if I selected the wrong payment method or something.

Meh. My e-bay record is spotless and I'd like it to stay that way. Besides, I really want that item. Anyone been there, done that?

Ah, I just fixed it. The problem was apparently a combinatinon of cookies and cache. I'd already thought of shutting down cookie control on my firewall but the stupid browser was apparently just loading the page from the cache or something. After I allowed cookies _and_ cleared my cache it finally worked. Uff.
