Summary: Debt is beautiful only after it has been repaid.

“She didn’t tell you, did she?” asks Rogers carefully. “That she was afraid.”
Clint snorts. He thinks about sitting in a grubby Parisian café across from Nat, telling her about Fury’s issues and not realizing that she was in more danger than he was. He had thought that because her signature weapon wasn’t as obvious as his bow, that because her hands and feet were often the only weapons she needed, she was home free.

Not only the most interesting take on the whole idea of 'being unmade' I've read so far, but one of my favorite longfics overall. Great writing style, the characterizations are amazing and the plot cost me a few hours of sleep because I didn't want to put it down.

Do the author's political opinions come through on the spy stuff? I admit ever since I happened to see that author's horrible icons on LJ in SGA fandom I've looked at the fic with wary scrutiny, and could never quite divorce the two.

No, it's not that kind of spy story, it's more like Natasha on a mission, marvelverse-style. Sort of. *shrugs* I found no eyebrow-rising views expressed, for what it's worth. More to the contrary.

I might give this a try then. I remember rather liking some of the author's John/Teyla in SGA, which is my favorite SGA het pairing. In fandom you just often tend to learn more about authors than you really want to.

Ah, I wish I liked John/Teyla. I'm into Rodney/Teyla and there hasn't been new fic in ages. I miss Sticks and Snark.
