Rec of the day
tell of a lesson that failed by
summerstorm (Leverage)
Maggie/Nate pre-canon; PG-13; 7314 words
Summary: There's no need for her to be out of bed yet. Not for another hour. She runs a hand through her hair, rubs her fingers over her eyes. They feel like craters, the skin underneath soft and inconsistent and sunken. She sips her coffee, which is still scalding hot, and takes a look around the room. It looks the way it's always looked. She's doing what she's always done.
Maybe that's the problem.
I love this story for the subtle and sensitive way it deals with the painful breakup of their marriage from Maggie's POV; one can entirely emphasize with her, and yet the the story isn't about taking sides... there are no bad guys here. The story feels very real.
