So weird, I just now got 5 Russian-language spam messages in the space of two minutes. All of them consisted of one harmless sentence, followed by two invisible gif counters that lead back to a site called zimnyayaobuv.ru/ (don't click! I doubt anything good comes out of that.)

What would be the point of that? It doesn't even link to that site, my view of the comment only registers there. Maybe it's the latest thing to drive up page hits for ad views?

I'm frequently baffled by the strategies. And always come new methods. Like the openID spam I get through old polls now. Though I guess that might help their search rank somehow, because in the results the openID links the site, and afaik you can't delete poll responses, so there is no way to remove it.
