I hate the new gmail look. It's ugly, harder to navigate, my screen is full of white... at least they ask for user feedback.

Yes, the new gmail sucks so much. I can barely even see some of the controls, like the ones to expand trimmed messages, because they are light grey on white unless you hover exactly over their tiny square. And the side navigation with my labels always collapses on me when I want to scroll.

I just learned you can still switch back to the old style by clicking on 'settings' (the little cog wheel on the upper right). I didn't even try to get used to this style, I switched back right away. Sweet relief.

I tried that when they first switched me over (that was a while ago, it seems they roll it out in stages), but it kept displaying a nagging message to switch to the new in the corner of my screen. And no matter how often I clicked it away, it always came back. So then I gave up.

I don't even see that messge any more. I just now had to check whether it's still there (it is). Small price to pay...
