So, let's see. First it was: "People who don't read/write/like slash are obviously homophobes at heart."
Now, it's: "People who read/write/like slash are clearly displaying misogynistic tendencies."

Nothing like a handy generalization to get a kerfuffle going. Seriously, is it me or is Buffyfandom getting more extreme, with the politicizing of every little sneeze one of its members makes? Must be the lack of fresh storyline.

In conclusion, we need a spin-off, pronto.

(And by the way, I'm really not at all interested in discussing the misogynistic/homophobic/whatever tendencies of fandom - don't want to mislead anyone with my post. There're already two dozen threads going on regarding that topic, and I want to get some serious work done today. Just wanted to point out the irony.

And also, I like Angel, Connor, and Kate the most... and strangely, I never felt the slightest desire to analyze why.)

I salute your optimism. ;O)

Ah, everyone has different tastes, that's cool (as long as folks don't try to give me any of that "better living thru [genre X, pairing Y]". This is fanfic. My tastes in fanfic say very little about me as a person.

I just scratch my head when I see people's preferences in fanfic, characters, or pairings twisted and applied like the fannish equivalent of a Rohrschach test.

(going off on a tangent, I read in one of last month's 'Der Spiegel' about the notorious unreliablitly of the Rohrschach... turns out the human psyche is more complex than can be defined with a bunch of inkblots. Who'da thunk.)
