climbing stuff
I was a bit stupid... two nights ago I was walking to a friend's place and passed a playground that had one of these and after a day at my desk I couldn't resist and climbed around a bit, you know, just for a few minutes, without warming up first. Definite mistake. I did something to my shoulder that wasn't dramatic, I think, but not entirely healthy either. Good news is that especially after Yoga class tonight my shoulder is feeling almost back to normal and I hope it'll be fine again by Saturday, when we want to go to the climbing gym. I've been so looking forward to that! I'm never gonna climb again without at least a bit of warm-up first.
Question for the boulderers/builderers on my flist: what are you doing during the winter months when it's too cold to boulder outdoors? This guy has the right idea but our flat is tiny. We have a very decent climbing center but it's not cheap, so during the warm months we like to go to playgrounds or climb on buildings and stuff, between trips to the actual gym.

Got somewhere you can attach a pull-up bar or a couple of these?

Hm, the training boards they have at the site you linked, those look much more interesting. Might be worth looking into, though our walls are a kind of indestructable concrete that's almost impossible to drill a hole into.
I decided to pony up for one-month membership at my climbing gym for November; I figured, if I don't have to pay every single time, I might drop by just for an hour of bouldering even if I can't find someone else to join me. I plan to go tomorrow and check out their new bouldering cave. (I find bouldering still quite confusing tbh... it feels quite different from toproping and I'm never sure where the routes go.)

I figured it out eventually - once I hang out there for more than a few minutes at a time, the mess of holds and paper markings started to make more sense. I managed two routes I couldn't do on first try but which I figured out after a half dozen attempts. It was fun, I really enjoyed it. (Well, with the second route I only touched the top hold then slipped off but still...) Actually next time I might go bouldering rather than toproping. Or maybe do both.
