O hai!
Hai flist, how you been? I'm currently in stunning Zion National Park with
jwaneeta, hiking and swimming and doing other outdoorsy things. Comic Con seems like an eternity away! But I had a great time in San Diego as well and shall attempt to write at least a rudimentary con report when I get back in a couple days.
In the meantime, those of you interested in climbing/bouldering, check this out! We get to boulder on an actual rock! (I live in a place where such things are a rarity.)

This is me and the Globe. That's actually the bunny slope right there. The route circles the boulder (close to the ground) The other three sides seem completely unconquerable so far...
There's plenty more bouldering opportunities in the park, and we haven't even had the chance to check them out yet.
(I plan to write a post on climbing as well, one of these days...)

(I also live in a place with a rock shortage. Though I'm hoping that I may manage to tag along on a trip to some real rock before the end of the summer ...)

Just before I left for vacation, someone at home told me about a natural climbing cliff only half an hour from where I live. I am now very determined to check that out. Not that climbing on a wall with holds isn't fun, this is just a very different feel, and a totally different kind of challenge. At first I was thinking, "bunny slope, are you frikking kidding me?!" But when you try a bit, you suddenly find grips and ledges in the stone.

I loved Zion National Park when I was there three years ago. We didn't climb, but hiking's nice, too.
Have fun!
